Why choose block paving for a driveway in Guildford?
Block paving needs very little looking after — an occasional sweep keeps it fresh — and if a section is ever damaged, only those blocks need lifting and relaying. It is hard-wearing, and because blocks come in so many colours, sizes and finishes, the design can be made to suit your home exactly.
Can you widen or extend my existing driveway?
Yes. We can extend a drive into the front garden and blend the new section in, or relay the whole area so it matches. If you need the dropped kerb widened as well, that is applied for separately through Surrey County Council, which looks after the highway.
Our driveway floods when it rains. Can you fix that?
Usually. Standing water normally comes down to the wrong falls or nowhere for the water to go. Depending on the site we can re-level the surface, fit a channel drain across the drive or add a soakaway, and we will explain the options when we visit.
Can you put up a fence or build a wall as part of the job?
Yes. New fencing and brick walls are often added alongside a new driveway or patio, so the whole frontage or garden is finished in one go.
How often should a block paved driveway be cleaned?
Regular sweeping does most of the work. A deeper clean every year or two is enough for most drives, or more often under trees and in shady spots where moss and algae build up. After a pressure wash the joints should always be topped up with fresh kiln-dried sand.
Is block paving slippery in winter?
Clean block paving gives good grip. Most slipperiness comes from moss, algae or wet leaves left sitting on the surface, so keeping the drive swept and cleaned makes the biggest difference.
